I love feathers! And they seem to be everywhere in the fashion world the past few years. They aren’t just confined to prints on fabric, they have been forming part of jewellery and hair extensions too! So no, feathers aren’t just part of costumes on Strictly Come Dancing, in my opinion, they are totally mainstream. And they are the perfect print for winter this season.
Yes I know that its a rather bold print but it makes such a statement with little effort. Why not challenge yourself to add a feather inspired piece into your wardrobe this season, be it a piece of jewellery or an item of clothing. You’ll be surprised at how versatile this design is.
My look today incorporates a feather print dress, sheer stockings and ankle boots. And in all honesty, I wish I could sleep in this ensemble.

The only thing I love about winter is layering up in luxe looks. And this season, nothing says chic quite like the “cape coat”. I have seen so many cape coats on the runways that I’ve actually now lost count. And of course I would take notice of these amazing pieces of fashion architecture! In my humble opinion, cape coats are a fashion forward look to die for.
For me, the ultimate is that these coats transform the simplest of outfits into something special with almost minimal effort. Skinny jeans paired with riding boots and a cape coat. Bull’s eye. Nuff said.

Have an amazing day beautiful readers!!!
So in keeping with my “Being Winter Savvy” series of blog posts, I cannot ignore the amazing headwear trends for Fall/Winter 2015. Hats in my opinion give ones look a whole new vibe. Drab to fab in seconds. The latest hat trends seem to be everywhere so this blog post is focusing on my favourite styles and how to style them.
Beanies are one of my favourites.
They remind me of my childhood winters and are really easy to wear. This season sees numerous retro updates, girly pom poms (my favourite of course) and grunge styles on the market. I love pairing beanies with skinny jeans and sneakers. Downtown L.A. vibes right here in the heart of Johannesburg.
From wide-brim hats to floppy felt hats, the options are pretty much endless when it comes to structured hats.
A structured hat can easily be paired with heels, boots or sneakers and it adds a feminine touch to any outfit. For a statement look, why not match your hat to your lip colour and keep the rest of the ensemble easy and simple (my winter favourite is deep red shades). I am obsessed with ankle boots and floppy felt hats. Look out for a full outfit post incorporating my faves!
Aaaaah and then there is the beret (oh how French).
I remember berets being so on point whilst I was growing up and then they somehow disappeared. But they are definitely making a comeback this season. Paired either with skirts or trousers (well paired with basically any bottom), berets give ones look a modern fresh feel. My ultimate chic beret styling? Skirt with a knitted tunic and a leather jacket!
And just like that, Winter is about to get the fab factor!!
I love purple. Its extremely flattering on most skin tones and an extremely versatile colour. So of course when I came across this purple and nude beauty, I needed to have it. I find the nude and purple colour combination really complimentary and delicate. Given that purple is a mix of blue and red, both these shades look amazing when paired with purple. Hence I chose a navy pair of shoes and a navy and cream handbag to accessorise my look.

HAPPY HUMP DAY EVERYONE!
Can’t decide which bracelet to wear, wear them all. With the stacking bracelet trend, I truely feel that arm candy has been transformed. Historically I haven’t been a huge bracelet or ring fan (the only ring I do sport is a simple Cartier nail wedding ring), but I cannot seem to get enough. Bracelets date back as far back as 7,000 years ago. It has been and still is an accessory that has long held a symbolic and decorative place in human culture. Bracelets may be of sentimental value or simply add a bit of colour and style to an outfit on a grey day. With the stacking trend, bracelets have once again been revived. To all the ladies who haven’t yet tried this out, you need it. It adds instant glam to any outfit.
I have stacked various cream, gold and black bracelets on one hand for today’s look. I absolutely love black and lace and in my opinion stacked bracelets add the perfect amount of quirk to my getup. Hopefully this gives you some stacked bracelets inspiration.

Happy Sunday Gorgeous Followers!!!
So I have always been obsessed with monochrome, and yes it has been around forever and in my closet, it’ll probably stay there forever and here’s why:
It’s absolutely classy and timeless. And everyone knows I love timeless pieces, because you get to wear it whenever you feel like. Chances are we all have a few of these pieces in our closets so now it the perfect time to dig out your pieces which fit this trend.
It looks so effortlessly gorgeous. Everytime. Just the colour combination makes a statement of its own.
You don’t need a million bucks to make this look work. All that matters is that the fit of your pieces are appropriate for your body and that the fabric of your items wears well in the long run.
Monochrome forms the perfect base to easily add a pop of colour to your look. Be it a bold lip colour, bag, jewellery or shoes. My look today incorporates a pop of colour with both my lip colour and bag. I find that I am not always carrying my bag with me during the day, so the lipstick provides the perfect pop of colour for a summer feel.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE EVERYONE 🙂
Shoulder embellished dresses are everywhere and I am honestly loving it! Lace inserts, teamed with delicate beading, nothing could make me happier. I purchased my dress with embellished shoulders, however it’s such a simple DIY project and provides an instant update to old dresses, t-shirts and blouses and a glam alternative to wearing a necklace. Check out your local fabric store for a range of beaded motives and just sew them on. Doesn’t get easier. I suggest that you first pin the motive onto your clothing before sewing it on, just to ensure you get the placement right. Happy embellishing everyone 🙂
